4ui is indeed a clean version of gui4 but is also contains some
complicated code that is for example shared between the panel and
thunar (xfce_execute) which is an improvement over the old xfce_exec
code. You don't need to port all the application to gui4, but it is
recommended (after the api review) to use 4ui instead of gui4.
