Re: Mac OS X Install FailureDane:
Great guess! It worked! I was on to it last night, checking all of the paths to be found (manually) and cross checking with the config.py file. Too tired to make the connection. Anyway thanks so much for helping me get Mapnik up and running on my Mac! No more switching to Ubuntu.

Re: Mac OS X Install FailureJoseph and others,
So, to sum this up again... This problem stemmed from two issues around finding boost installs: 1) Programs like Macports put things in unique locations that are not on the default paths that most build systems look for and 2) The Macports directories that boost packages were installed into changed slightly between Portfile updates so our docs on the trac wiki were out of date To try to remedy this and make the task of linking to boost easier for those of you who aren't needing or wanting to do highly configured builds I've added a change that should 'Auto-Find' boost: This is available in the just released Mapnik 0.6.1. This should effectively allow you to remove the BOOST_* custom variables in your 'config.py' file that SCons uses if you wish. Let me know how it works.
