Who needs MATLAB?  My boss was looking into getting MATLAB into my classroom and found it astronomically expensive.  I think it was something like US$200 per PC + SymbolicToolBox was another US$100 per PC and DistributedToolBox another US$100!  And that's a lease!  You have to renew the license every year!  I have 25 PCs, you do the math....

I showed pelicanHPC to my boss and she almost cried.

BTW, there's a good deal from Mathematica.  Schools and teachers can get is for $49 per core but this is also a lease and does not include any add on packages!
