Hard to say for sure. In general, you'll find that different audio
hardware will react differently to certain inputs (especially
non-continuous adjacent samples).
By the way, I did a quick Google for "linux audio synthesis" and came
up with CSound (
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/csound ). I think
it might suit your purposes better than OpenAL.
