Hello.

I think it is obvious, that the "abusive language" was used as a result
of a desperation, so no need to argue about that anymore :) Flames
belong to different kind of discussions ...

OK, performance has always been a big issue, no doubt. But it is also
still a priority for NB developers. I recommend reading Peter's blog and
following comments at :
http://blogs.sun.com/joshis/entry/netbeans_ide_is_scanning_parsing

Now to your question - you can turn of Compile on save (for J2SE
project) and Deploy on save (J2EE). Both from Project Properties -
Build/Compiling (J2SE) or Run (J2EE). But this is all about  action
taken  upon saving. And I guess that is not exactly what you meant,
right? You probably have more problems with the scanning, as mentioned
in the blog.

Your system configuration should imho handle such source files without
problem. Well, at least better than 8 sec after inserting a character :)
Maybe some Windows optimalization/tweaking can help a bit.  I have
nothing about WinXP (I am using them myself and I am quite satisfied).
but we both know how "messy" they can become ;)

Wish you best luck

Pavel
