If you're getting started, PelicanHPC, available on the same link, is a more up to date distro that does the same thing as PK. PK is no longer maintained. It has more examples than PelicanHPC, but no other advantages.

Neither PK nor PelicanHPC are meant to be installed to hard disk. It's possible, to a certain degree - search this forum for "install" and you'll get some hits. I find that running PelicanHPC in a virtual machine using bridged networking to connect to real compute nodes is a good solution.

For a cluster distro that installs to HD, check out Rocks and/or Perceus/Warefulf - they're designed for that purpose, which PelicanHPC is not.
