The last time I used the PK remaster scripts was when I used them to make PK v1.9, which is the final version of PK. The ONLY new thing in that release was a fix for the ssh key problem that affected all Debian derivates. If you try to remaster PK from such an old base, you are likely to run into trouble due to new packages having dependencies that cause other things to get updated. Precisely the difficulty with keeping PK working was the main reason I developed PelicanHPC, which relies on the Debian Live system. This is a system, and it works well, so that custom versions can be made at any time. PK was not very systematic, and that shows in the fact that it doesn't age well.

I really encourage you to try to move to using PelicanHPC instead of PK. It is a lot easier to modify and extend.
