Hi Rodney,

I am trying to install Debian S390 for the first time on my VM-guest system. I have the following files:

PARMFILE DEBIAN G1 F 80 1 1
INITRD DEBIAN G1 F 80 31535 616
KERNEL DEBIAN G1 F 80 39566 739
LINUXRDR EXEC G1 V 30 9 1

My parmfile.debian looks like this:

ro debian-installer/locale=C

My LINUXRDR exec looks like this:

/* */
'CLOSE RDR'
'PUR R ALL'
'SP PUN * RDR'
'PUNCH KERNEL DEBIAN G (NOH'
'PUNCH PARMFILE DEBIAN G (NOH'
'PUNCH INITRD DEBIAN G (NOH'
'CH RDR ALL KEEP NOH'
'IPL 00C CLEAR'

And I am seeing this error:

HCPVMJ232E IPL UNIT ERROR; IRB 01404017 00000010 02000001 00800000 SNS 800000000
00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 000E0000 00000232

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I am attaching my parmfile.debian. It looks just like yours. It is in unix format (lf instead of crlf).

In the directory entry for the guest I have the statement:

spool 00c 2540 reader *

I don't know if the reader statement matters, but it is something to try.
