well thats why its better to utilize this strategy on your 2nt or 3rd battle, well after Your opponent's wasted his casualies or something of that like or better yet, in response to his mugic. Course it works best right before your own turn so if your magmon is packing a laarina far back (for resurgences) then you have effective time to have your Tartarek strike with a skeletal strike or any other strong move.
Likewise I find a Magmon's ability to deal damage very erratic (Once when using a Magmon in a 6v6, I drew no fire elemental attacks for 5 or so turns.. it was quite annoying), and its stats disallow it to deal signifiant damage with challenging attacks.
Strategy is buying a bottle of fine wine when you take a lady out for dinner. Tactics is getting her to drink it.
