Ah, I see you're using the German version of Thunderbird, for which
version 0.8PR doesn't currently work. Please use 0.7b4 (which has nearly
the same functionality) until I (or anyone) can find the localization bug
in the new version.
(On the other hand, this single nonfunctional localization build has
surprised me with an unexpected plethora of international users!)
