I follow the same principles.  Have seen no reason to have the SSN's in PM.
 As best I could tell on the Re-Chartering, the match-up used the BSA ID #.
 I was only prompted for SSN in the Re-Charter packet for adults that were
not already in the Charter.
DotNet and PM seems to have several layers of protection:
DotNet access protection
Data Encryption
Database Access protection
