Thanks for the quick reply Mark.

I didn't change any topology settings in tc-config.xml, but I did change that file. I was trying to use newer version of tim-messaging and tim-pipe modules to see if I could run cluster successfully, but it didn't work either.

So that was the problem. After changing tc-config.xml back, the master/workers started without any problem.

However, the REAL question comes...
How do I prove if my simulation modules really used all the worker clusters?
I've started the terracotta console and watch if any live objects/java heap gets used or increased, but I saw no changes in the console.
Also, the simulation didn't seem go much faster due to the disk I/O output I have.
I can disable the disk output to test, but I doubt the difference...

Lastly, does anyone know a good way to overcome the disk I/O bottleneck in terracotta?
My thought is that I would need caching, but eventually I want my simulation output write to disk. That just makes the whole implementation of terracotta not so useful...

Thanks for any advices!!!

It's not very clear exactly what is going on from the stack trace. Have you manipulated the tc-config.xml file in any way to change the topology. It seems like it is not finding this topologyObservers field.
