That's not enough, see the readme. You need to configure dvips and/or pdftex
to know about the font (i.e. some font mapping). I had the same problem.
Oh, I just realized you read that, too:

Same here. However, getting dvips to work was easy, and I stopped there
because my interest in this is not urgent. ;-} Sorry.

Exactly. I believe the above map files map the "fjdmw8r" font (for which
there are metrics in the tfm directory) to one of the real (i.e. type1) font
file names.
