I had the exact same problem but sometimes it would start but no more than that : it was ok on idle but would die if I tried to move on to high revolution.
I removed the carburator and found a tiny hole at the bottom of the bowl through which gasoline was leaking. That tiny hole was assiciated with a small screw. Quite frankly I don't know what these are for ( the hole and the screw) but I tightened the screw so it would «close» the hole. It could be some kind of a drain mechanism but it is very different from a regular drain plug.
Anyway, I reassembled the whole thing and now the machine is back to normal !
