My best guess would be that the float needle is stuck in the carburator thus preventing the carburator bowl from filling up.  The first thing to try is to gently tap the side of the carburator with a soft mallet or lacking that a heavy piece of wood.  If that does not work then you will have to disassemble the carburator to get it unstuck.  Pay close attention to where all the parts came from, make diagrams if neccessary and then clean all the internal parts with carburator cleaner and put it back to gether.  If should run like new after that.  If this is beyond your technical expertise then you will need to buy a replacement carburator and remember in the future to always shut down using the fuel valve and allow the engine to stall out when all the fuel in the carburator has been used up.  Search the posts for links as to where you can get a new one.
