I've considered open sourcing my CMS based on stripes

Hibernate - Stripes - JSP - Prototype.

It handles the basic stuff like user management, website editing, multilanguage support, shop,... etc.

And it can be inserted into any HTML based website in a few hours.

Anyone needs something like that and I can give a demo or something.

A book is absolutely essential simply because it's an important way for management to figure out whether the framework is strong enough.

I'm using Stripes to reimplement the user management application for
OpenSolaris (http://opensolaris.org).  The source is all online at
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/website/auth/trunk/ , and the
application itself can be found at http://auth.opensolaris.org/.  This
isn't by any means finished, and I'm not claiming it is a model
application as it's my first Stripes app, but it is a reasonably-sized
example.
