Hi Steven,

Using positive values as a fraction of 0dbfs and negative values as an
argument for ampdbfs is actually a compromise because I know some people
prefer values between 0 and 1 for the volume (and I want people to like
me :-p). I started using ampdbfs after the recent discussion about it on
the Csnd-group, before that I used ampdb, but it takes some getting used
to to use negative values. I think it would be a good thing indeed if
all instruments did it like that, just like the popular UDO getFrequency.
