Nope.
$thermostat->mode('off') will shut it off. Then set whatever mode you
want on the flip-side.

Can't recommend the Insteon Thermostat setup. The RCS that I had at the
previous house was comparably priced (given that I had to by APs,Tstat
and adapter) and much more functional. I too was wooed by the Insteon
luster. Poll the list for alternatives. Or buy mine so I can get
something better ;)

You could poll the setpoints @hourly or whenever, but you are correct in
that there is no direct feedback.
