Ah yes:

'Some edits are considered AutoEdits for all users and are applied
immediately. For most edits, however, they will be subject to normal
DataQuality requirements, and they will be applied after 14 days,
assuming they have more YES votes than NO votes, or no votes at all.'

from the editing FAQ. I didn't see the second clause before; that has
put my mind at ease! :)
