ls uses colors if LS_COLORS is set in the environment, which is done by
running dircolors. If you are using the standard /etc/profile, this may
already be done for you - so it would be a good idea to investigate what
is (or isn't) being run at shell startup. This can be done by running
'bash -vxli' from a cmd.com window in c:\cygwin\bin (or wherever you
installed), and you can compare the two installations to see what is
different.
