I don't know whether it's related but some time ago someone reported that comment lines were not properly ignored, resulting in NaNs in the vectors.

Have you had a look at that as well? Is it part of the fix?
There were other important bugs there (filters failing with NaNs), I think we should open a report if there isn't any yet, so that we don't forget it.
Matt, can you check whether you have already opened a bug report, and if not, do it?
