Thanks, it's working in the 20111231 patchlevel. One minor nitpick:
With the given option, tic.pc has

Requires.private: ncursesw, tinfo

Shouldn't it list tinfo only, considering your explanation in
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-ncurses/2011-10/msg00010.html ?
