As mule uses HTTPClient from Apache Commons I assumed that connection persistence (keep-alive) is done 'under the hood'. Any reason to believe this is not the case?

Basically, I've got not more than 50...60 web services available through MULE working as proxy for incoming web services requests, that would be great if MULE keep connections open and relay incoming requests on already opened connections to reduce response time.
