I'm sorry, but I'm in Maryland, but I tend to think the ones trying to get this passed are the very ones who don't pay attention on the road and pull right in front of us, or are the ones texting or talking on the phone while driving.
I had a woman roll up her window one day when she heard my Ducati. about 5 min later she pulled right in front of me as if I wern't there. I then pulled up along side of her, depressed my clutch and reved the engine. She looked over and could tell that I was cursing her out behind my full faced helmet. I've had a few like that that has happened. If they aren't using their mirrors, how are they to know you are there? I have two brothers slip ons on my bike that will get someone's attention. I think that for our saftey, we should be allowed to run loud exhaust. If it wern't for my loud pipes, I may not be here now to voice my oppinion. I also went off on some woman texting while driving near Fort Meade last week. She realized that I wasn't happy when she read my lips telling her that she was messing with someone's life.
If VA passes this, it will be even another reason I don't like Va. I figure that they might impose their laws about mufflers on people passing through. Even if they are the only state in the region with this law.
I still say LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES. They sure have helped with mine.

Not Virginia...just Fairfax County.

No, that would be a violation of the U.S. Constitution.  "Restraint of
interstate trade" is the phrase I suspect would come up in the court case.

Interesting.  So fairfax wouldn't be able to issue the ticket to
people with MD tags?   Doesn't VA have some kind of code already in
place for loud exhausts?

me and my buddy were having a nice late lunch in National harbor, and we parked on the main street at meters side by side  me behind a car, him in front of the next car, he got a parking ticket, expired meter...

I guess we are not welcome at the National Harbour!  never will go there again! idiots, there's still 18 feet of parking space for a car! and that space does not stay unoccupied for even 1 second!

From what I have seen (we live near there) they are _very_ aggressive about income collection. And that is what it is all about, they want you to pay for parking so logic has nothing to do with it.

(I did get to watch a “cop” crash his Segway on a corner there. Does that help?)

In late April I spent the better part of one whole week at the Gaylord in National Harbor, they are not bike friendly and charge $12 just to park there for one minute.  There are some other parking garages that are much more affordable only one block away but if you don't know they're there and they honestly are not well marked.  Intentional?  Probably...

The HD dealer there has a few parking spaces in front but I never saw a bike parked there.

The traffic lights there are extremely frustrating, timed, I guess, for HUGE traffic flow but forcing you to sit and idle for a long time while the roads are absolutely vacant of any other vehicles.
