I don't think you'll get that much of an increase in speed even if you
recompile. It's an emulator (for those who didn't google sheepshaver)
that emulates an old style Mac (not OS X) on a Unix platform. Not only
that, but it's emulating the powerpc or 68K architectures in software,
which would explain the slowness.
