I have a similar issue. Transparancy is fine when loading the images normally, but when I am loading the images in a div that is being using fadeIn it will load with a black background until the fade is complete. Here is a link: jQuery Box Test

In IE& when the popup loads, I see solid black where the drop shadow should be. when the fade completes the drop shadow looks normal.
