I currently use Zoomtext in Windows and would like to see the full screen
feature in Linux based and other open source desktops with the capability of
up to minimal 10x magnification of various resolutions.  Is this possible?

Being the full screen magnification is not working ... where is this in the
development stage and its progress and possible resolved release.

Cannot tell because I didn't test any available program for Linux.

You can fill a bug against KMag if it does not work for you too (for
me it does not work).

According to this report:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135629

virtual desktops will be not implemented in KDE which is a pity if you
ask me.
