 This problem seems fixed in a different way in the new tty layer in 8.x
 and newer (it changes TIOCSETAW and TIOCSETAF to TIOCSETA).
 Are you still interested in seeing this fixed in 7.x?

of the code in question in -8, it is unlikely that a fix will be merged
back to 6 or 7.
