Hi guys,

This is more or less a known issue. In 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 the default output
mode for kml changed to output super overlays. Unfortunately that has
been met with limited success, as superoverlays rarely work out of the
box. So the community has decided that the default mode should revert
back to "refresh" mode (pre 1.7.1).

So in the next releases of both 2.0.x and 1.7.x you should see the
behavior of old reestablished. But for now the workaround will be to use
mode=refresh.
