Re: list going away[To clarify context for those not also on RMI-USERS, my message below
was posted to that list earlier today.] This seems like an appropriate time to suggest subscribing to one or more of the Apache River mailing lists: http://incubator.apache.org/river/RIVER/mailing-lists.html -- Peter On Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:34:14PM -0400, John McClain wrote: > Sadly, this also applies to JINI-USERS and JAVASPACES-USERS. > > Peter Jones wrote: >> I'm sorry to report that it has come to my attention that the LISTSERV >> running at archives.java.sun.com, which hosts this email list among >> others, will cease operation at the end of this month (i.e. midnight >> US Pacific time on May 31, 2009). Re: list going awayArgh.
John- is there any way to get a copy of the archives (jini-users and javaspaces-users) and put them up on Apache River project for reference? thanks -Jim On May 27, 2009, at 7:34 PM, John McClain wrote: > Sadly, this also applies to JINI-USERS and JAVASPACES-USERS. > > Peter Jones wrote: >> I'm sorry to report that it has come to my attention that the >> LISTSERV >> running at archives.java.sun.com, which hosts this email list among >> others, will cease operation at the end of this month (i.e. midnight >> US Pacific time on May 31, 2009). Re: list going awayYes, and perhaps it could then be handed off to Nabble or MarkMail...?
I've found the archives absolutely invaluable in learning about Jini, even very old mail threads are full of important info. Re: list going awayThanks Jeff,
you and Jim are heroes for me, and for my part I will try to go over all pages (again). I vote on keeping the site distinct and with the current name, since as far as I understand Apache River is a Jini implementation. But it would be very nice if the people involved in Apache River would use a lot more of Jini.org. For folks out there there is the always strong Javaspaces including Gigaspaces, Distributed OSGi including Newton (OSGi + Jini, which to me is better with Google Guice Peaberry). None of that is getting into the site (and I have a pretty narrow view). I would certainly like to hear more on Apache River. Thanks again On Mon, Jun 1, 2009 at 6:56 PM, Jeff Ramsdale <jeff.ramsdale@...> wrote: Forwarding, in case the lists are still live... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Getting Started: http://www.jini.org/wiki/Category:Getting_Started Community Web Site: http://jini.org jini-users Archive: http://archives.java.sun.com/archives/jini-users.html Unsubscribing: email "signoff JINI-USERS" to listserv@... |
