Yes, quite tempted to look at FAUST. Julius Smith says he is
implementing all his dsp examples from his online books using it.

Am looking at it (but mostly engaged just now in SIMD programming for
the Clearspeed cards); but I only have access to dual-core machines,
which I don't consider adequate for testing such things. Does anyone on
the list have the 8-core Mac Pro? Outside my budget, sadly.

Wot, only six? Not much use for morphing two 5.1 streams. So, no
immediate prospect of a spv~ opcode in PD, then!
