Maybe so but sending thousands of people fro the maillist to the page will
only move it up, not down, in the search engine's priority moving his page
into a more prominent position.  I can understand why he would like it gone
but that will not happen by calling attention to it.  It is in the other
search engines also and none of them are known for their cooperation!  The
best he could hope for IMHO, is for removal from the maillist archives and
that may be unlikely also.

Subject: openvpn not working in network-manager
Hello,

I have started to play around with openvpn recently. I set up an OpenVPN
server on my router machine and now I am trying to test it with a laptop
that is running Ubuntu.

So far, if I use sudo to connect to the VPN server, it all works fine.
However, if use network-manager to connect to the VPN server as a normal
user, it fails:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nov  8 21:43:11 red NetworkManager: <info>  (wlan0): writing resolv.conf
to /sbin/resolvconf
Nov  8 21:43:11 red NetworkManager: <info>  Policy set 'Auto
PoweredByLinux' (wlan0) as default for routing and DNS.
Nov  8 21:43:24 red NetworkManager: <debug> [1257734604.002134]
ensure_killed(): waiting for vpn service pid 6996 to exit
Nov  8 21:43:24 red NetworkManager: <debug> [1257734604.002388]
ensure_killed(): vpn service pid 6996 cleaned up
Nov  8 21:43:51 red wpa_supplicant[1118]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have not entered my VPN key in nm. It doesn't even ask me for the key!

What am I missing here?

Thanks.

I thought it was obvious, but since you asked nicely, I'll explain:

Logging in repetively to any system is *much* easier using keys as
opposed to passwords. It certainly would simplify this operation and
is exactly how I would do it. So if you set up the root account on the
remote system's authorized_keys with your personal keys, you can login
as root and no password is required for anything (the login or the
sudo prompt) at that point. Voila!

And this has what to do with the original "9.10 upgrade changed my
desktop from gnome to xfce" thread?

*Please* do not hijack existing threads[1], please just start one of
your own. Same for others that reply to a hijacked thread... why reply
when you know that someone has done this?

and probably found:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/459906
[No encrypt option when right clicking on a file.]

and then probably figured out that 'seahorse-plugins' (note the plural
despite what the last comment on the bug says) is no longer installed by
default & that you need to install it yourself... right?

and then once you did that you tested in nautilus by right-clicking a
file and found the option there... right?

Sorry. Yes I am being somewhat blunt in pointing this out to you. But
the above is *exactly* how I found the answer to your question. Perhaps
in the future you (and others) might also try the same before asking
other folks on the list to look thinks up for you.
