yes I use to convert sdif to text and then read sdif text in pwgl  : so
that 'a la main' it can work with no crash !
(I still don't understand why using ircam or so use SDIF as the only
format for small data lists like f0,  partials, marks, etc, but only to
make everything more heavy ?
If usefull, I'd like to join you to work on it at Montbeliard in july :)
