Hi,

  Sorry for the false alarm.  I had two livetribe jars (different versions) in my deployment directory.  Simon asking me for the slp version actually helped :).  Thanks again.

What LiveTribe SLP version are you using ?

Are you running LiveTribe SLP at port 427 or you're using another port ?
In the host is also present slpd ?

You can turn on logging level as specified here:
http://www.livetribe.org/SLP-FrequentQuestions#SLP-FrequentQuestions-logging
and see if you get something strange, or post the log output here.
