I agree with Thor.

The fact that is always confusing me is the organization of links in sourceforge.

To speak about mac:

E.g for  the official 3.2 points to 3.3. RC...
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=54622

The RealizeSound  links here
http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=403551
which points to
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=155616
The Cocoa points
http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=475353
and then again
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=155616

Also, it's not clear why should chose a binary instead of another

Hi Dan,

I have realised when teaching SC that people do indeed get quite confused by this page.
I had a look, but I don't think anything has to be removed. To me it's a question of layout.
It's about making empty spaces on the page. And perhaps rephrasing some sentences.

Suggestions:

1) put a banner background for the OSs headings. Like:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mac OS X
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This banner could have some colour.
You could even put a box around each OS blurb. That would make things more "blocky".

2) Leave a space between the last line of one OS info until you get to the next OS banner. e.g.

          | here |
----------------------------------------
GNU/Linux
-----------------------------------------

3) Update the text (Psychollider is now called SuperCollider)

4) Write a text describing the Plugins and Extensions graph.

5) Perhaps remove all (updated september 2007...) as those that make a new build
and upload, typically forget to edit this page.

6) I would be inclined then to remove the top 4 links (max, linux, windows, plugins) and
just let the user scroll down the page a bit. Less confusing, a bit more work.

But as I said, I do not think this is a bad page.

The downloads webpage is rubbish.

Really need to simplify it and make it easy to use. Would be grateful
for your suggestions. Which things on that page should be removed?
Which should be emphasised? Removing things is quite important I
think, cutting down on the clutter.

Perhaps there should be separate webpages for each platform:
"downloads/mac", "downloads/linux", "downloads/win"? That might make
things more pleasant. But then there are miscellaneous things which
might not fit that subdivision. (freebsd? ;)

Thanks
Dan
