Do Santa Cruz, California.
 
I've lived most of my life in Santa Cruz, California. That's where I used daily records to measure a 38-day lag of midwinter behind the winter solstice, when I defined midwinter as a winter day that has equal summed temperatures for the 2 months before and after it.
