Let's start with the basics:
What does lsusb show you?
What kind of LCD/VFD are you using?
Which linux(guessing ubuntu?).
Under Ubuntu 8.10 imon:0036 device I only needed to install
lirc-modules-source, put an updated driver in
/usr/src/lirc-0.8.3/drivers/lirc_imon, but for that we first need to
know the environment.
