I had the same problem this spring.  I called a Yamaha dealer and they wanted $70/hr to clean both carbs.  They said would be a 3-4 hour job.  I took the bike to my uncle (a retired mechanic and motorcycle rider).  He took my carbs apart and found that the needle was sticking in a 1 carb.  I purchased 2 of them (since he said the carbs were a "bitch" on this bike) so I would not have this problem on the other carb later.  I got the part (Needle valve set..part# 3CF141071500) on-line for $51 each.  The bike runs wonderfull again.
