yes there is a wysiwyg editor (it looks like FCK) - we have installed it
and are using it in anger. It generally works fine but is slightly
flakey. We downloaded the patch from Sakai JIRA.
I agree that without this add-on the wiki is not really usable by every
user. It makes such a difference.
