Re-Organizing Sakai DGs/WGs in the area of "Using Sakai"Hi, In order to help folks more easily find their way to information about "using Sakai", and to facilitate collaboration around this general topic, we are reorganizing some of the Sakai discussion groups and working groups in this area. It encompasses a broad range of topics, including best practices and experiences for teaching and collaborating, how various tools and capabilities work, end-user support materials (e.g., documentation, training, tutorials), etc. This overarching topical area is targeted at teachers, instructors, researchers, collaborators, instructional technologists, user support and other related members of the Sakai community. Existing discussion and working groups are not necessarily being removed, but are being re-aligned to eliminate overlap and to provide a single venue for shared-interests. A venue which hopefully will be more easily discoverable and approachable for those new to the Sakai community. This reorganization will provide a single Collab email list (sakai-user), where folks can discuss "Using Sakai" related topics. Based on current email traffic on existing lists on these topics, the sakai-user list is anticipated to be moderate- to low- volume. If you are not already a member of the sakai-user list on Collab, I would encourage you to join that list now. (It is currently labeled as the "DG: End-User Support (User)" site on Collab; however the end-user support working group is making way by moving their content to their own working group area.) Please also make an effort to direct traffic on the other lists to the sakai-user list when appropriate, so that the broader community can benefit from questions and answers relating to using Sakai. This reorganization will also involve the creation of a top-level "Using Sakai" page in Confluence. This page will become one of the key starting points in Confluence (rather than the current default Dashboard view listing all Confluence spaces, which itself is being redesigned.) The new page will provide an overview of all the various community groups and resources relating to Using Sakai, an aggregated synopses of their popular materials and recent activities, and appropriate links out to the existing groups. I've put together a very rough mock-up of what this page could look like: http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/USER/Using+Sakai I'm looking from volunteers who are active in the groups receiving this email to help with fleshing out the content for this page, with the overall goal of keeping it simple. So please contact me if you are interested and available over the next couple weeks.
