I found this salmon recipe on the Internet Archive via Google's 2001 search. It appears to be from April, 2001. I started with this search: <http://www.google.com/search2001/search?q=sarah+palin+wasilla&hl=en> And ended up here: <http://web.archive.org/web/20010411195533/www.alaskaseafood.org/table/recipes/firstannual8.htm > --bag SWEET AND SAUCY GRILLED SALMON Recipe by Alaska Fisherman Sarah Palin Wasilla, Alaska 1 can (12 oz.) tomato sauce 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup molasses 3 tbsp. ketchup 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp. dried minced onion 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. mustard 1 tbsp. dried bell pepper dices 1/4 tsp. each cinnamon and nutmeg 4 to 6 Alaska salmon fillets or steaks (4 to 6 oz. each) Blend all ingredients, except seafood, in bowl; let set 10 to 15 minutes. Dip seafood into sauce, then place on hot oiled grill, not directly over heat source (coals or gas). Cover and vent. Cook about 6 to 12 minutes per inch of thickness, brushing with extra sauce, if desired. Do not overcook or burn edges. Makes 4 to 6 servings. YUP!!
I used that same recipe to grill Fresh Halibut when I lived in Anchorage back in 1984. So, you might say it's a rather old recipe but one of the best! Also remember a young lady who was the Wasilla Queen who attended a wedding of a friend of mine. His wife's family was well-to-do and they had invited the upper crust of Wasilla to the wedding. Excuse me???!!!! But last I checked, Alaska could divide into three states
and become the first, second and fourth largest states in the union. Texas would slide in as number three. There's actually more personal space here in California than Rhode Island, but still some nice country neighborhoods there too. Aside from the metro areas, there is still a lot of open space in California--not like Alaska, mind you, but still. FWIW, I have nothing against Alaska, just agreeing that in terms of population and civilization it's pretty small. I've never actually been there, but it strikes me as a frontier out on the edge of the world, which is actually appealing in and of itself.
