Recordings for Indaba
Recordings for Indaba
I have tried making a recording of the Mac Murray College disposition by recording directly off the sound card using Audacity. I then saved it to an mp3 using LAME. It sounds fine on the Windows Media Player. When I upload it to Indaba, it sounds distorted.
Can anyone share their experiences with me or can someone suggest another forum that would offer me some insight to solving this problem?
Best Regards,
Dan Dietzer

Re: Recordings for Indaba
Hi, Dan,
I'm not familiar with your particular setup, but I would suggest trying the recording at a lower level. I've just had a similar problem with Fluidsynth. I recorded a bass tone, and it sounded fine when auditioned in Vienna, but was distorted in jOrgan until I wound the volume down 50%.
Have fun,
Roy.

Re: Recordings for Indaba
Recordings for Indaba
I did
record it at a lower level and made sure I wasn’t overdriving. You can
see for yourself the difference. The original mp3 is on my website at http://members.accesstoledo.com/ddietzer/index.html
The
same mp3 is on Indaba at http://www.indabamusic.com/groups/93007
Let
me know if you hear a difference.

Re: Recordings for Indaba
Dan..
..I hear the
distortion on Indaba. I can't check right now... but it sounds to me
like Indaba changed the sample rate of the mp3 and it didn't go well.
Get properties on the original and upload and compare.
Kindest Regards

Re: Recordings for Indaba

Some parts of this message have been removed.
Learn more about Nabble's security policy.
I've found that there may be a problem in the LAME encoder.
Try this: Record it and save it as a wav file. Then use Freerip (www.freerip.com) to convert it to MP3. Freerip also uses LAME, but it seems that it somehow is more acceptable to Indaba.
It worked for me.

Re: Recordings for Indaba
I uploaded a new version using this method and to me it doesn't sound any better.
