Recover from CrashWe use the TroopMaster FTP site and were using the 2005 version of TroopMaster. I had to replace my computer, requiring me to reinstall TroopMaster. However, the only version of TroopMaster on the web site is 2009.
Is it possible for me to use the 2009 version to download the 2005 version data and convert it to 2009 version data? If not, will I just have to ask one of the other people with access to the FTP site to upgrade from their 2005 version and convert the data to the 2009 version data? Thanks. -Rick |

Re: Recover from CrashRick,
Hadn't you been getting notices when you open TM2005 telling you that it had expired and needed updated? Or have you already done your updates and paid the license renewal? I'm confused as to how one can still use TM2005 or any outdated version of TM with DotNet...not that I use DotNet. Re: Recover from CrashMark,
I fully understand and can emphathize with that...I too own the only licensed copy of both TM and PM for our Units as we have the same financial issues. I don't use DotNet because I think it's too expensive an add-on for just one person using the software since I don't let other Leaders have access to the records. That is to prevent having them mess them up anymore than they were before I had to fire our Advancement Chair. I have trust issues when it comes to sensative record keeping. However, the license renewal for just the TM even out of pocket is fairly reasonable. You can always update the DotNet later if you choose to continue using it. TM will be just as effective to upload Advancement Reports to ScoutNet to keep records updated at your Council Office. There's no cost for doing that. I'm thinking if you want to continue, you'll more than likely have to use one of the other user's updated copy, unless no one has one. Whoever the Licensed Administrator that is, will have to help there. Or, you can just pay for and download the new TM2009, do the data conversion, and go from there if no one else is willing to be the Licensed Administrator. I know out of pocket seems expensive, but since you're already this far into it, it's just something some of us volunteers do to make our jobs easier. Re: Recover from CrashForgot to mention that once TM2009 is installed, the data conversion from TM2005 to 2009 is a fairly painless process.

Re: Recover from CrashNo, you'll probably have to either update the DotNet also, THEN download it into a separate folder, then convert it using the data conversion tool in TM2009.
Or, you'll have to get a copy of the TM2005 data that is most current from one of the other users, then convert it into the TM2009. Those are the only suggestions I can think of at the moment. Re: Recover from CrashBill -
Go to tsi's website, click on program updates, they still show 2005 on their site, download the latest version of 2005, this should get you up and running after you enter all your license info. http://www.troopmaster.com/updates/updates.php After you get 2005 up and running, then you could convert to 2009, or like you suggested, have the other person upgrade to 2009 and just install 09 on your system. Hope this helps! Sarah |

As I read that link, it was to update 2005 to 2009, rather than the 2005 version. So, I got to looking and I found an old copy of TM2005 http://troop374.ods.org/downloads/Update_TM2005_V304.exe Not sure if it was the latest version but it should give you an upgrade part to TM2009 You will still need your registration number to be able to use it.
