Reducing Junk Mail

I don't know about you all, but we get LOADS of trash in our mail. I would say that at least 2/3 of our mail is credit card offers, catalogs in duplicate, solicitations for donations, etc. GARBAGE. LANDFILL FODDER.

anyway, I have been on the slow lookout for ways to reduce this problem. Before I share the ways that I have found on my search, I need to say that I have only begun on this mission and that I don't know how sure these ways are, yet.

"JUNK" Third Class Mail:
DMA Choice: http://www.dmachoice.org/mps DMA's Mail Preference Service will allow you to receive more of the mail you want to receive and less of the mail you do not wish to receive. You may add your name to individual organization lists and remove your name from individual organization lists. Complete the form and they will send it along to their members, asking them to honor your preferences. (costs $1)

They provide you (FREE OF CHARGE) with the information and forms needed to get your name off of the junk makers.

WHAT I DO RECOMMEND is, to hold on to the catalogs & junk that you are getting and once you get a pile of them, go onto one of all of these sites and get started. The one thing you should know is that this is kind of time consuming. But won't it be great to open your mail box and only have mail that is pertinent? Another idea is to log onto your bank account online, and sign up for "e-billing" and "e-statements". That will also reduce waste.
