Reg. Smb client.

Guys,

Is the smb client maintained.  Why do we need a client if we have the CIFS VFS built into the kernel.

If the SMBClient is maintained, which is better -

- accessing a file through vfs

- accessing a file through smbclient.

My requirement is to browse and only read the file from the CIFS Share.
