Reg. creep

Dear all

I have a metal spring suspended between two plastic components,
one made in ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
and the other made in POM (polyoxymethylene)).
The problem resembles a creep problem eventhough the stress field also changes due to the displaments.

I have used Abaqus to determine the initial stress field in the parts,
then I can look at isochronous creep curves and try to determine the
criticality of the stresses over time. But this is only based on the
initial stress field, which I know changes over time.

Then I can try to use linear viscoelasticity but I know from measurements
that the visoelastic response is not linear!! I could ignore that and try anyway
but how much more would that give me?

How can I judge whether the parts are able to withstand the load for a certain
time? Could I use the creep curves together with the initial stress field to determine
if the parts could withstand the load? If not how could I then do the job?

Hope you can help.

Best regards
Bo
