Regional & songs
Hi,
Something I've always struggled with is singing to the Regional Rhythm. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions as to some simple songs that fit better with the Regional Rhythm?
Anyone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller...

Re: Regional & songs
Mestra Suelly taught a workshop a little about that. We sang "Gunga e meu", "Vou dizer a meu senhor que a mateiga derramo" - also you could listen a little to "Um berimbau, dois pandeiros" that has Mestre singing lots of songs to regional...

Re: Regional & songs
Simple songs are good since your brain might be a bit busy...Sim sim sim, nao nao nao or Dona Maria como vai voce (Vai voce, vai voce...dona maria como vai voce). It's a challenge to be strong on the rythm and then sing too...good thing we don't have to sing and play to iuna :)

Re: Regional & songs
i recently came across a compilation of capoeira albums on the internet.
it's about 2 GB, 35 albums. it's not very well organized/labelled, but just listening to the music sung correctly *may* help you if you already familiar with the words.
let me know if you want some of them, just bring an empty thumbdrive to class or something and i'll copy them for you.

Re: Regional & songs
Hello from Fresno,
A trick I try to use is by learning the song in banguela and then transitioning into regional when we have a better feel for it. Good simple songs are "Chue, Chua", "Gunga E Meu", "Sao Bento Me Chama", "Roda Da Boa".
Peace,
Piaba
