Relative External URLs It's not exactly a high priority feature, but it would be nice if
the GUI for selecting externals could generate relative externals (http://subversion.tigris.org/svn_1.5_releasenotes.html#externals). Perhaps the dialog box to add/edit an external could have a drop down at the bottom to select which style of external (absolute, directory relative, repository relative, scheme relative and server relative). Of course some logic to fall back to absolute if none of the others are possible would be needed. For example if the directory on which the external exists is from a different repository then "repository relative" shouldn't be an option. -Greg ------------------------------------ Yahoo! Re: Relative External URLsHi Greg,
I'm not sure whether I understand you correctly, but SmartSVN already suggests different types of relative externals: in the Edit Externals dialog, click the Edit button. The URL input field is a combobox showing you all possible alternatives after you have chosen the external path. -- Best regards, Thomas Singer ============= syntevo GmbH http://www.syntevo.com http://blog.syntevo.com "Greg Gibeling" <gdgib@...> wrote: > It's not exactly a high priority feature, but it would be nice if > the GUI for selecting externals could generate relative externals > (http://subversion.tigris.org/svn_1.5_releasenotes.html#externals). RE: Relative External URLs Wow. I completely missed the drop down on that. I feel rather sheepish.
Okay, let me try for a more minor request: when I enter say a repository relative URL and hit the "..." to select a different directory, when I come back to the "Edit" dialog the URL always seems to be absolute. Any chance you could make it default back to the form that it was in before the user hits "..."? Talk about product support, you guys knew I was going to ask for the feature and put it in ahead of time. Thanks for explaining. -Greg > -----Original Message----- > From: smartsvn@...
