RSS feeds are great if you update your site frequently. It will post
the lastest headlines or titles, sometimes with summaries, so that
others can know when you've updated you pages. They are very popular
for news and blogs sites with frequently updated headlines. Google 'rss
wikipedia' if you want more technical info.
I have a simple blog that I have rss feeds setup through google's
feedburner a free service (just google feedburner). It lets my family
and friends know when I've posted new pics without having to email them
every time. You can set it up to notify subscribers through email or a
feed reader. Also, feedburner provides lots of tracking stats for those
who subscribe to your feeds.
As feed readers go, I personally use and love google's free reader
through their homepage( www.google.com/ig) so whenever I open my browser
I see all the latest headlines from all the sites I have selected.
Keeps me up to date on all the top news, so even if you don't use them
for your stock photos, I highly recommend using them for personal
knowledge.
Hope this helps!
