Remote Pairing with VNC and Visual Studio

Hi all.

We've been pairing remotely using TightVNC for some time with fairly good results.
Lately we've been moving from VS2005 to VS2008, and apparantly VNC doesn't show VS2008's tooltips/intellisense etc.

Anyone know about a workaround for this or of any other good alternatives?

I had trouble with TightVNC not picking up stuff like this in other applications, and solved it by switching to UltraVNC.  If that doesn't work, you may want to look into the VS options.  The normal cause is that it's rendering the popup with DirectDraw, which you may find there's an option to disable.

editor will impact tools like VNC for remote pairing...

We've had good results using Microsoft SharedView with VS2008 also.

Yes!!
I've been away for a week, but have just this morning tried UltraVNC and it works like a charm
(we needed to turn on some checkboxes in the server settings and finally got it to work)

The solution is to enable the 'Capture Alpha-Blending' setting in the UltraVNC admin properties dialogue of the VNC server. The VNC viewer client need not be UltraVNC.
